Komodo Cuttlebone
Cuttlebones are an essential item for those keeping hard-shelled reptiles like tortoises and turtles, as they are rich in calcium for developing strong bones and hard shells.
Without calcium, their shells can become soft , which is not only painful but can be fatal in extreme circumstances.
Although food should regularly be dusted with a suitable calcium powder, providing a cuttlebone for them to nibble on also helps to keep their beaks trimmed.
Can also be ground up and used as a food dusting supplement.
In water (for aquatic terrapins/turtles, the cuttlebone tends to float but is provided with a plastic clip to help anchor it.
