Why Test?
The chemical balance between carbonic acid and carbonate leads to a stable pH which in turn leads to well being of your fish. The KH is therefore often called the buffering capacity of the water, because it forms a buffer against pH changes.
KH should be tested regularly.
An optimal KH value in freshwater (aquaria and pond) is between 6 and 8 and in seawater between 8 and 12.
