A preventive treatment is intended to prevent infection, and assist in natural therapeutic recovery from disease infection.

A number of very dangerous pathogenic strains of bacteria like Aeromonas, Pseudomonas, E. coli, , etc. can cause catastrophic fish losses in ponds. This has created a strong demand for an effective preventive treatment that does not involve antibiotics, disinfectants, or any other sort of chemical products.
Preventive treatment does not kill pathogens directly; it helps prevent and restrict their development. If pathogens get the opportunity to proliferate they can infect the least resistant fish. Good water quality reduces stress in fish and therefore reduces the risk of infection.

After extensive collaborative work with Kusuri Products, IET Aqua research have added this product to their production program. Bacta-Pur® Pro-100 is formulated to help reduce harmful water-borne bacteria. Bacta-Pur® Pro-100 contains the highest available concentration of natural beneficial bacteria. Every production batch is tested and guaranteed free of pathogens and dangerous chemicals.

This is a the highest concentrated formulation available (100 billion organisms per ml).

Pro-100 is used as a preventative. The multiplying colonies of beneficial bacteria out-compete harmful strains of pathogens, by consuming the nutrients that they require to survive and develop. Effectively, Bacta-Pur® Pro-100 reduces the numbers of pathogens by occupying their “living space” and replacing the harmful bacteria with beneficial ones.

Pro-100 can be used in any aquatic environment because it is absolutely harmless. It is recommended not to use UV or ozone equipment when starting the application for 1 week, and to aerate the pond.

DOSEAGE: 5ml per 1000 litres (220 gallons), add daily for 1 week,

Then after initial dose, add 10ml per 1000 gallons every five days.

(Below 15 C increase dose to 20 ml per application)

Product suitable for use at 4 C upwards.

First week: 159 ml per 1000 gallons

CAN I OVERDOSE?

No! PRO-100 is harmless for the ecosystem.

IF PRO-100 REDUCES BAD BACTERIA WHAT ABOUT MY FILTER BACTERIA?

Unlike pathogenic bacteria, for which a pond is not a preferred environment, filter bacteria like Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter, are perfectly at home in the filter of a decorative pond and will not be out-competed by PRO-100. They are chemolithic bacteria that covert ammonia and nitrite and do not have the same carbon source.

IF I ALREADY HAVE FISH WITH ULCERS, AM I TOO LATE TO START USING PRO-100?

No! Use Pro-100 to reduce development of pathogens in the water. The proliferation of bad bacteria results in further deterioration of the wounds.

IF I RID 100% OF ALL THE PATHOGENS IN THE WATER, WILL THIS WEAKEN THE IMMUNE SYSTEM TO RECOGNIZE NEW INVADERS ?

No! 100% eradication is very hard to achieve.

A non-infectious, very low level of pathogens will be enough for immune systems to develop recognition. This is important, particularly in small fish where the immune system is not fully developed. Using Pro-100 will assist the immune system through the improvement of the water quality.

WHAT IF I HAVE TO USE A POND WIDE MEDICATION SAY FOR PARASITIC PROBLEMS?

Most chemicals are detrimental to all bacteria in a pond ecosystem and your filter bacteria as well!

To restore your beneficial bacteria follow the initial dose procedure again after pond treatment is finished.

If topically applied treatments are used and do not involve medicating the whole pond, carry on with the maintenance doses.

THE WATER IS COLD, DO I NOW STOP USING PRO-100?

Generally speaking all bacteria in a pond eco-system will normally develop and multiply at a slower rate in cold water. They will still continue to multiply in water with a temperature of 4° C. Even biological filters in lobster tanks function at that temperature. For this reason we recommend the use of Pro-100 down to 4°C.
