The Aqua Pro aquarium filter provides mechanical, biological and chemical filtration all in a single unit.

Mechanical, Biological and Chemical Aquarium Filtration
Dirty aquarium water enters the filter through the inlet valve then passes through 3 layers of graded foam where most of the solids are removed mechanically and the first stages of biological filtration begin. Once through the sponge the water has to flow through four other chambers filled with various biological and chemical filter media. Biological filtration takes place in the compartments containing Bio Balls and Crystal Max filter media removing ammonia and nitrite. Chemical purification takes place in the chamber containing charcoal before the water reaches the filters motor where it is pumped back into the aquarium via a spray bar that helps re-oxygenate the water.

Experienced aquarists will appreciate being able to change the filter media in the compartments to fine tune the water conditions. This can be useful when keeping difficult species or species that require specific water conditions to breed.
