Anti-Ice Device With Aeration Kit
The Anti-Ice Device with Aeration set is the solution to keeping your pond fish and plants healthy during the winter. It maintains a hole in the ice surface so oxygen and fresh air can reach your fish and harmful biological gases can escape. The aeration kit keeps the oxygen concentration in the pond at the proper level and prevents the hole from freezing up.
Instructions [Installing before pond gets frozen]
Well before the first frost, place the anti-ice device above the deepest part of your pond. Feed the air hose through the supplied ring, then place in the cover of the anti-ice device and attach the air stone to the end of the air hose. Ensure that the air stone hangs about 30cm below the anti-ice device in the water. Place the air pump in a dry place (e.g. in a shed) above the water level of the pond. Ensure that the air pump does not get wet! Connect the air pump to the other end of the air hose. Do not use more air hose than is necessary. Insert the plug on the air pump in a safe watertight socket and leave the air pump on day and night. Check that the air pump is working properly once a week.
Instructions [Installing in a frozen pond]
If you have not installed your anti-ice device before the first frost and your pond is frozen over, create an ice-hole by pouring on warm water, and install the anti-ice device. You should never hack a hole in the ice since this can kill the fish.
